addon elec choke

I have a 1961 Evinrude Lark 40 hp.......there is only a manual choke......I have a solonoid off a '59 Johnson......any pointers or experience on adding this?.....It looks like it would have to be totally fabricated.....there is no place currently where the solonoid will mount....I really might have to locate a carb with a bracket to recieve this item ??.......any and all replies are appreciated......

Re: addon elec choke

Go looking for the carb with the solenoid already on it. The solenoid fits into a cradle cast in the bottom of the carb's bowl, and a few stamped brass parts of the linkage are different around the choke section. The bowl drain is relocated so it doesn't interfer with the solenoid.<br />The carbs without solenoids have no place to mount the solenoid on the bowl. You could fabricate the linkage parts and mount, but it'll be pretty difficult.
