Hi Guys a while back I asked about adding a kill switch to my older Bass Boat. Well today my fishing buddy and I tore into getting the boat ready for next season, new bilge pump, new areater pump, fixed alot of minor things, replacing som worn carpet, replacing the fish finder with a new one. And adding the Kill switch, now to my question. I have a 1976 Hydrosport, with a 115 horse mercury with a Merccontrol I need to know where to hook the kill switch into the harness at. The harness is sheathed all the way from the control to the engine. I would like to kill power to the coil if possible, but see no way to unless I run the wires all the way to the engine, but see no way to get them in the engine. Is it OK to open the sheathing in the rear compartment and splice in there with solderless heatshrink connectors and than seal the sheathing back up? Please let me know, that and carpet and the fishfinder is all thats left to get us back out when the weather breaks. Thanks

Matt

Hooty it has a Ditributer with an external coil. Thanks
but the problem is, I cant get wires inside the sheath that run into the engine, I think I am going to have to open the sheath in the compartements in the back and hook into it.

Matt

Yes the key is in the control but coming right out of the control it is sheathed in heavy rubber sleeve. And that area is exposed to water, so I think it would be best to do somewhere inside the boat and seal it up. I guess my question should have been what wire should I open? What does the key power up going back to the motor that will definatley kill the motor and not cause any problems. I am in the process of moving and my manual is packed away. But we want to get the boat ready to go fishing on a moments notice if we get a warm spell. Thanks for the help and if anyone can offer some more help it would be appreciated.

Matt

I Guess my point is, Open the control box, Tap into the nessessary wires, Route your new wires out of the box, Reassembly the box,+ Mount your Kill Switch........
Why run Miles of wire when you only need Feet....
