Adding secondary trim/tilt switch

I want to add a secondary trim/tilt switch to the actual outboard (1995 Force 120), so I don't have to climb into the boat every time I put my transom saver on. Is there any reason I can't just tap into the trim motor wires at the factory connectors in the outboard?

Also, any suggestions as to where I pull power for the switch? Should I run a line straight to the battery, or is there a power lead in the outboard that I can use?

Thanks all!

I put mine on the lower motor cover close to the starter solenoid and tapped into the factory wires at the trim/tilt relays. Works great and much more convenient than climbing in and out of the boat to raise or lower the motor.

One of these transom or splashwell switches would work great on the lower cowl.

I did the same and used a momentary single pole three throw toggle switch with rubber boot. I drilled a hole on the lower cowl starboard side and install the toggle switch. Three wire connections and you have a parallel switch to control the T&T from the motor's side.

My next project is to install a on/off and start switch at the motor so I can start the motor without having to climb when flushing the motor.

I used a switch like GA has in the photo.
Ran the wires out the front of the motor and zip tied the switch onto the battery cable just in front of the motor. I did not want to cut out a hole in my motor cowl.

Ah my idea too, Im using an old omc tilt switch mounted lower tray, Im also wiring in a momentary toggle switch for the starter too, this I’ll mount inside the cover on bottom of lower tray, makes life so much easier

My transom has a fairly narrow opening for the motor to swing in, be mindful of your switch fouling on something
