adding power trim to 115 1976 johnson

i was wondering if a power tilt and trim can be added to my engine. it came without one the model number is 115el76d

The power trim for your unit was long ago discontinued by OMC. It's really hard to find a good used working unit. Some parts may not be generally available. You can look at the original factory parts lists at epc.brp.com. I'd go out to the 1976 parts list for an Evinrude 115 hp engine. That shows the trim system you need to be looking for. Best to try to find an old junk engine which might have a working trim system you can salvage. If the trim system works, it's worth buying the whole motor for the trim parts. In addition to all the stuff that mounts on the engine, you'll want to get a dash switch and relay to really make it work. The factory trim wiring diagram may be in the back of the 1976 service manual. It's really not a bad system-even though it looks odd by todays' standards.
