Hi,

I understand my new 115 HP E-tec has fuel filter on the engine but the manual highly recommends have one in your boat too. I always use premium (91 octane gas) and had my internal aluminum gas tank cleaned out by the dealer a few years ago.

Is there anything I need to consider when selecting a fuel filter and deciding where it should be installed? I have a gas tank at the front so my intention was to mount this in the bilge area. Is it worth adding any sort of gauge to the filter so you can monitor the flow?

Thanks!

I would think adding a secondary fuel filter would not hurt as long as your not going to restrict flow, however most tanks should have a pickup screen on the pickup tube to eliminate larger debis, and the smaller is picked up by your motors filter, so the filter on your motor should suffice, I would be more concerned that you may not have a fuel water seperator, these are a must! perferable one with a drain, however make certain all components you add are E-10 compatible!

Get one that is at least 10 microns. A filter with the clear bowl and a drain on the bottom is also a good idea.

Anyone tried adding a gauge to the fuel filter? Can you recommend a gauge?
