I bought a new Budge cover for my 24' pontoon and want to add Quality Grommets for support poles. I've already rigged makeshift supports for now. In the spring (Ohio) I'll add them.

Right now I need recommendations for Quality grommets and installation Tools. The grommets will be installed along the center line of the cover. I can't use the pliers type crimp tools. It's 8 feet to the center-line of the cover. I do have a cheap hammer/die set now, but want something better, along with heavy duty grommets.

Thanks for any feedback.

Got a hydraulic press I could see rigging the dies in a press working well. You could just drill a hole in a Piece of steel then glue the bottom die in that lay it on one of your press plates and just hold the upper die by hand while someone helps pump the Jack as you position the material making your cheap dies a very effective tool.

That's an idea, but a two pound ball-peen hammer will work effectively for me. I want good dies and heavy grommets.

I was thinking of something called a vent, but in addition to being a vent, they are designed to hold the top of a 3/4"-7/8" pole. They are maybe 4" in diameter, and clamp down on the fabric that surrounds them. Custom covers are generally doubled in this area, but the vent could be glued in pace as well. They work great. Almost like they're made for the job... ;)
