Adding gas tank to bow. Fuel pump issue?

The larger 14 to 20 gallon gas tanks I see are just too big to fit under splashwell on my boat. I do have the space to mount one under the front deck and run the filler neck up through the deck. That means the fuel line has to run the length of the boat to get to the motor. Do you think there would be problems with the fuel pump pulling fuel that far? I know there will be weight issues, but the boat porposes a bit at top speed, maybe the extra weight in front will help stop it.

Thanks,
Mark.

Shouldn't matter at all. Elevation is what affects a vacumn pump.

Don't see a problem with it,lots of boats have the tank mounted in the bow.If pumping the primer bulb is a problem, and the bulb and anti-siphon valve are functioning, put a fuel shut off at the tank for when not in use.

DHP

Mark, before you do the changes, try to bring a sandbag or something similar in weight, where you plan to place it. Most boats porpose because of heavy bow, not light, same that makes a pendul swing. Setting motor back, or moving batteries and fuel back, has helped many boaters to reduce porposing. It is better, when you have someone sitting in the backseat, or better when you both sit in front ? I know we are on our way to boat questions now, your boat is a real beauty BTW.

G Dane,

Boat rides best at top speed with me and my brother (6'+ 250lbs) in the front seats and the rest of the boat empty. Your suggestion of adding weight before adding the tank is a good one. Will test it out in the spring.

Is it spring yet?

Mark.

PS, the list of changes to make in the spring is getting longer and more $$$.
