Adding Downriggers?

I'm looking to add downriggers to the 'toon....one on each side. I've got a 20' Lowe Suncruiser that's the fishing model - looking for any and all advice from those who've installed downriggers on their 'toon. How mounted, minimum boom length, mount in front or back and so on.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Have you considered incorporating the same idea as a pedistal seat.
A flat mount when not in use.

As for how long of boom, I would think as long as it out past the logs it would be ok.
Plus a thing to keep in mind is the longer the boom the more leverage working against the pedistal.

I have two cannon electric downriggers on my 24' Starcraft

Looking at the left picture, the short carpeted board between the two storage boxes was replaced with a 2 x 6 that is secured to the box frames.

The box covers no longer have room to pivot, so the hinges were removed and they simply slide out ( after lifting them 1/2" over the ledge ) now.

I could get more pictures in a couple months as it's tarped up right now.

Thanks

It's both warm and cool. When we go up to Ontario Canada for the opening of pike ( starts 2nd saturday of may ), it's nice to have it all closed up. That goes double if it's cold and rainy.

In the summer, the shade keeps you cool as you don't baste in the sun. :(

Re: Adding Downriggers?

Thanks for sharing pics. I have an '08 Lowe SS Angler with a rear exit on starboard side - eliminating the idea of having a mounting plate (board) as you do. So I'm still not sure what I'm going to do - although I'm looking at 48" booms.

Regardless, I'm getting spring fever bad and ready to go fishing.....
