I would like to add breaks to my 2nd axle. I have the hydraulic setup where the couples on the ball slides against a piston which pushes the fluid. Can I just splice in to the existing lines for the 2nd axle? Anyone ever add a 2nd set of breaks?

That set up would work, but make sure you keep the brakes well adjusted. The actuator on the hitch will have to travel twice as for to apply the brakes.

As long as the actuator is sized to handle the weight of the trailer your good to go.

There are no adjustments to the actuator required and disk brakes are self-adjusting. If you have drums, you use the adjustor between the brake shoes

I did this mod about 6 weeks ago on my trailer. You can buy a brake-line kit that has all the fittings and brake line you will need. Once installed you will need to bleed the brakes, just like on a car, to clear any air in the lines. Then you are set to go. disc brakes are far superior than drum...but I didnt want to break the budget.

Did it to mine a couple of years ago. Had drums on one axle, but also converted from drums to Kodiak discs at the same time, so it was a complete build from the coupler back.
