hi all , hope some one can help . i have a 1999 40hp mariner 2cyl that i connverted to electric start by just adding a startermotor and solinoid connected to a battery, this works all ok.
i have been trying to add a tacho to it, i tried connecting to the yellow wire from the stator to send on the tacho, posative from battery to ign on tacho, ground from battery to ground on tacho but the tacho is not showing any rpm's, i have been told that i need a voltage regulator to make the tacho show rpm /rectifier which i have bought , i understand that the 2 yellows from stator connect to 2 yellows on regulator , grey is signal wire for tacho , black is ground and the 2 reds are to charge the battery , can i attach both reds to the posative cable on the starter solinoid instead of running these wires back to the battery.
a bit long but thanks for replys,
chris
