Adding a rectifier to a 1970 Johnson 40 hp

How and where do you do this or can this be done. Sort of getting tired of always putting the charger on the battery. It is an electric start and motor is running very well just trying to add a little accessory to the motor.

You'd need more than a rectifier - you'd need to find one of the belt-driven generators, which actually uses a voltage regulator instead of a rectifier. They're getting hard, but not impossible, to find...
