In looking at the new (to me) motor, it appears that there are a pair of wires coming out from under the flywheel. They are female and have a rubber cap covering the ends of both wires. I'm assuming that this is the AC output from an alternator that already exists, and that I can gain 12v charging by adding a rectifier?

Is this the rectifier that is needed? Tohatsu P/N 346-76160-2

Is it really $102? Yikes!

Is there another alternative to this that would be more in-line cost-wise with what one would expect in a small (I'm guessing 5 to 10 amp) rectifier?

Thanks in advance,

Brent

Yes, the correct Factory part is:
346761602MRECTIFIER KIT 8B THRU 40C$108.96

It is a sophisticated rectifier/regulator so you don't over-charge the battery. It includes bracketing and harness/connectors. To do it on the cheap, get any heavy-duty bridge rectifier. But rectifiers that both survive in the marine environment and handle the currents involved will not be much cheaper, and will be unregulated..
