Mercruiser 120, 18 foot bowrider (Dixie), 15/17 prop. Only getting up to 3200 and 29 MPH. Carb was rebuilt last yr. New plugs. COmpression 120-125 all around. New fuel filter and water seperator. New belt, t stat, hose, impeller. Engine says rpms should be around 4-4200. HEard I should be able to go about 35-40? A good starting point would be?? Besides new engine. Throttle cable maybe?

Thanks

Joe

Are you water logged? When was your last full tune up?

Is this boat new to you? Have you ever gotten it up to a higher speed? What's your fuel pressure from the pump? Did you check the fuel pickup screen, etc? How's your timing?

Don S. has a good checklist for WOT problems.
