I have a bass buggy pontoon with a 40 horse evinrude, has the split type controls with separate shift and throttle controls. I'm fixing to install an 85 force motor onto the boat, biggest issue I see is the cable ends on the motors are completely different... any ideas for keeping my current controls and adapting the cables I have onto the motor?

Get new cables at a minimum. Get the proper force control if you cant Frankenstein it

The older Chrysler controls and cables will work fine too . They are usually dirt cheap used.

Mount it on the other side of the console?
OR!! get extra long cables and put it on backwards.
I've seen a lot worse out there.
