Acquired 1979 35hp Evinrude in a game of chance.

I've acquired a 1979 35 hp Evinrude and it cranks over but after a minute or two it turns off. The batter terminals also get pretty hot. Any suggestions? and is it worth fixing?

check compression and spark, post results. 99% chance yes it is worth fixing.
