Accessing trans oil cooler on '83 Sea Ray 340 with big blocks

Are there tricks for getting into and out of the impossibly tight space in the engine bay of the SeaRays with 454's? I need to inspect and possibly replace the oil cooler and can't figure out how to get to it or if I have to start removing parts. Who has done this and how?

Wish I could help but so many times boat manufactures build boats with little or no access. There is a boat here which the oil filter has not been changed in many years because you cannot get at it without removing the engine.
