Acceptable scoring on cylinder wall? finger nail does not "catch" per se.....see pics

I have scoring in 1 cylinder in a mercury 1400 (inline 6) because of damaged rings and piston. My fingernail does not necessarily "catch" on the scoring, but I can definitely feel the scoring when I run my fingernail over it. Will the motor function ok if I just replace the rings and that 1 piston? Thanks for advice.

The scoreing will deffinatly need to be cleaned up . It also appears to have a crack between two of the exhaust ports that can cause trouble. It would be best to have a machine rebuild shop look at it before any parts are bought. Could be quite costly to repair, and the money could be better used for a diffrent motor or a already rebuilt powerhead. JMO

Acceptable scoring on cylinder wall??
No such thing as acceptable scoring for a cylinder wall, if scored it needs bored. Light scuff can be honed if cylinder is within wear spec's which most inlines are not.
