Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 521 XLT PLUS LH?

I just picked this reel up of from craigs list for $10. Seems to work OK but I don't know anything about baitcasters. Can anyone direct me to a good resource to know how to adjust this for proper behavior? I also got an ambasseduer one rod (AO661MH) for another $10 ($20 total). Was this a good deal? I think so (I hope so).

Dude I would buy them all day long for that price, if I could. I don't know of a website to direct you to but I'll try to give you an idea of how to set your drag where the bait caster will not bird nest. It depends on how heavy of a lure and what type of line you are using. I set the drag to where the lure will just ease down slowly, not just free fall unto the floor or into the water. When preparing to cast click the reel release button/casting button, hold your thumb on the spool then cast as you were going to cast any reel, release the spool toward the end of the cast.

Hope this helps, maybe somebody can put this into more simple words, or better explination .
