i have a 1990 quantum 20' bass and ski with a 87 mercury xr2 150 if im running bout 1/4 throttle and doing a u turn to go back to pick up a skier if i gas on the throttle it will launch forward then rev likes it kicks out of gear but the prop is still spinning has anyone had this happen before

Sounds like you spun your prop.

Any time you turn it is possible that you may experience venting.( Prop loses its' grip)
sometimes it will bite again other times you may have to reduce throttle and try again.
It is normal to have to trim down for a turn.Its also possible that it will turn better one way than the other.

I'm totally with Spike. Will it go full speed straight? If so, then definitely not a spun hub.

yes it does it mostly to the left hardly ever to the right

I have a solution . . . turn right to go get your skiers. I do this when there is no traffic and my neck gets sore only looking to the left

yes full speed straight ahead and it don do it much only if i gas it wide open not really a problem jus have not had it happen before on any other boats maybe because they have the motor mounted on the highest mounting hole but thanks for the input guys
