I just purchased a 1987 Grumman GSS 14 and was wondering how much it weighs? I did not see a HIN number or tag on the boat. I do have the title and registration for both boat and trailer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its a US sold 87 Grumman, the HIN should be stamped in the hull on the starboard rear side of the transom, top right looking forward from the back.

When I need a boat or trailer weight, I am able to run across the scales at my nearest recycler if theres nobody waiting, at no charge. Takes 2 trips. Weight them both and weigh the trailer only, and then I can estimate the boats weight.

I bet if you google

Grumman GSS 14 specs

you can find the weight, if its still all original.

I didnt see an 87 GSS 14 listed:

Welcome aboard.

The title better have a HIN because it's made after 1972. It's the only legal ID for a boat.

The number should be on a plate or engraved, located on the upper starboard stern or just around the corner on the starboard side. This is an aluminum boat, since it's a Grumman?

Thank you for the welcome, information and suggestion. I was also on the iboats page for manufacturer listings and could not find anything, it does say 87 on the title. I am trying to size an electric trolling motor and wanted to know how much the boat weighed empty.

You can go to the Minn Kota website if you wish to check for suggestions for a trolling motor. But off hand a 40-50# thrust motor will do you. I have a Lowe 1467 which is 350# and loaded with two heavier people and lots of gear my 50# moves the boat right along at less than speeds 1-3.

I have a similar boat, not very heavy.....I am going to use a MinnKota Endura 55lb thrust 42" shaft on it, along with a 1999 15hp Merc 2 str or a 2007 Merc 5hp 4str.. depending on the lake I'm going to fish on.
