Well Merry Chistmas out there to all.
Question about my 5.7 motor mount.
Need to gain some access but leery on screwing up rear mounts reefing on the engine, is this possible? Or stressing the transom? I have an alignment bar so no worries there, the stringer mount holes must be plugged and redrilled, the wood is dry no but must have been wet before as the lag screws are rusted striped out.

Ayuh,..... Merry Christmas to you, 'n yer's too,......
The rear mounts should be tightened, then the side motor mounts are adjusted to alignment,.....
Donno why, or how much "reefing" yer lookin' to do though,...
On a fresh motor install, I tighten the rear mounts, lift the front slightly with a chain hoist, shake the motor side to side abit, let it settle "in-place", then screw down the side mounts where they want to be, then align as needed,.....

Got r out! The holes bottom out solid, ya think a 1/2" or so longer lag may do it, maybe a big plastic wall anchor insert?
I'll figure out something.

On my 3.0 liter 140, the front mounts on my boat were secured to a cross member between the stringers. When the lag bolts stripped, I drilled out the holes large enough to drive lag bolt “shields” (used to put lags into concrete) in and the bolts snugged up fine. I ran that way for many years before glassing in a new cross member, into which I drilled holes through the front mount after I had re-installed the motor and secured it with the rear mounts.
