a little outdrive ID help

HI Guys, I'm sure this is an easy one, but I'm getting ready to order my water pump kit to replace the one in my outdrive and I'm not sure what outdrive to order it for. I've seen places where it's id'd as a pre-alpha, and an 888, and an alpha 1, so i'm not really sure which one I have. It seems like the pre-alpha characteristics that I've read up on match the closest, but when I go to order the water pump impeller kit there is no pre-alpha listed. I'm sure it's just an error in translation but I don't want to order the wrong part and am dying to get her in the water

here is a pic of the outdrive, it's on a 71 chieftan with a Mercruiser 165, it's a mercruiser outdrive, just not sure what model to order for . . . thanks in advance!

If you look at the part #'s for the pre alpha outdrives you will find they might all have the same water pump.
What year is your outdrive? If it was like mine I had to track down the year via the engine serial #'s because my 1971 140hp merc had no serial numbers on it.

I'm assuming its a 71, but I guess I don't know that. Don't see any serial num though

Lake - On engine/outdrive specific questions it's best to post in the Mercruiser forums for a wider audience and better chance of good answers. Those guys can look at the pics and tell you.
