Hello everybody.
I have been fixing up an ourboard for quite some time (project, as i am new to this kinda thing).
It is a mariner 60 (old model), 2 stroke.
I have got the engine hooked up to my custom wiring loom today (push start/cut out etc), and have the engine running (YAY!)
However, I now have noted another, quite major issue, the motor is no longer spitting out water from the head. It was doing this when originally purchased, however it has been sat for a while. I belive that the impeller may need replacing due to it being sat for a while and general wear and tear etc.
I am quite happy to strip it down and check the condition of it etc, but would like some guidance from those in the know.
I spoke with a chap in my local boating shop today, who was kind enough to show me how the pump/impeller was put together on a mariner motor he had in his workshop, and it looks easy, and i have no doubts i can do it, however, i have falled at the first hurdle!
Just, how do i get the bloody lower section of the motor off to be able to check it all out etc?????
I have yet to remove any bolts etc, as I would like to understand the process more, becore i do it, to make sure i know what i should be doing.
So, my question is, does anybody have any guides, or any information on how to remove the low section from the engine, so i can inspect the impeller for damage/wear etc.
Thanks
Alec
