We all know what a work resume is, you layout all your work history and where it took you, at least financially. Well I got to talking to a nieghbor last night over a beer about my running for a small local public office and he asked why I wanted to do it and upon reflection the truth is that amoung my reasons is that I want to add it to my "life resume".

I know it sounds a little nuts but I love adding to my life resume and all the adventure that goes with it. When the last day comes I want to look back and not see a bunch of things I wanted to do but didn't take the leap. I don't really have a bucket list and from where I stand that is a good thing. Oh I would love to try being a Billionaire but that's not likely to happen so I don't lament never having done it and instead look at the millions of things a fellow can do and pick the ones I want to try. If I started listing all the things I've done or tried I would over load the iBoats servers and I like that, I like it a lot in fact. How about you folks? Do you think it important to built your life resume?

Re: A "life resume"

I'm in the public service field Bubba. In fact if you want to take my place at the public meeting tonight feel free to do so :) BTW - after you win your election that friendly neighbor will soon be calling your house and knocking on your door to complain about their taxes, water bill, school etc.......... I'm just being cynical because I've been doing it for so long. Truth of the matter is, there is always a need for good public officials. Key word is good. So if the spirit is moving you to get invlolved go for it.

As far as my bucket list/life resume...........that will be determined once I retire and my nest is empty. Boating was definitely on the list however

Re: A "life resume"

I am cursed and/or blessed with wanderlust. It is an affliction that forces me off the beaten path and draws me to see what is on the other side of the hill. Probably why I have had 7 different careers in 32 years of working. When an alluring opportunity presents itself, whether or not I considered it in the past, and the risk is manageable, odds are I'll be jumping in to test the waters. It's more than just impulse, it's compulsive.
I see it blooming in my kids and I am fanning the flames. Carpe Diem and Acta non Verba! Otherwise it's just another day...

People generally regret the chances they didn't take more than the ones they did. (Doesn't apply if those chances are preceded by the phrase: "Hold my beer and watch this". :)

Sure do Bubba......one day at a time, no regrets.

Personally I'm not so concerned what goes on my gravestone or what others think about me. There is one spirit I choose to build a resume for. I've never met the guy personally, but he is my friend. If I continue to listen to him, my resume will be filled with my love for mankind. That's all I can ask for.

From all the threads and posts I've read over the past year...... we need more of people like you.

Good luck in all you do!
