Let me see, i want to to use normal tires that are rated for the weight of all the equipment in my boat. However I am going to add these .
I figure the boat rides on the trailer 98% of the time and the only towing without the boat will be less than 10 mph.
I have seen quite a few tailers with car/truck tires on them and when on the freeways they bounce like crazy when unloaded. The side walls are really flexing. That I beleive is the reason for ST tires.
The real reason I want normal tires are-
1. they look better
2. They will fit this rim
I want the nito star 14" and almost any 185/60HR14 tire. The reason is they are close to the diameter of my 12 inchers only 1 inch higher.
Any thoughts???

Re: A hot one

Sorry it is a single axle. I think for sure I would use trailer tires on a double or tripple for the scrub issues.

If your boat doesn't weigh more than 800-900 lbs, you can use any old kind of rags for tires as long as the load rating is ok.However, the sidewalls on passenger tires are too flexible for trailer use and since trailer has no shocks, you will expose boat to more shock loads than with the right tires. They impose a 55mph speed limit in this state on trailers, which noone pays any attention to. I tow a 23 foot boat and I am extremely cautious sice I have had lots of over the road experience in 18 wheelers, you cannot stop or ture rapidly,, Good Luck
