Hello all,
Long time troller here at the site, first time for my own thread. I have a few unknowns about the 1970 Nineteen (Merc 165) we got last summer. First of all, we LOVE the boat. Most of the questions I've had-- have been answered here, thanks.
Question 1: My boat doesn't have a ski locker...which is normal for the early Nineteens. So its my understanding that there is NO access between the inner and outer hull, right???? That being the case, where in the world does that little drain tube from the sliding window pocket go to????
Question 2: The second question has to do with the mystical "reverse lockout valve." I have a leak in the tilt system. I can see the magical piece leaking, but have hestitated taking it out because of all the "stuff" I need to take off to get to it--it looks kind of intimidating. So the question is--has anyone replaced theirs, can it be rebuilt, and where on the scale of skill difficulty does it rank???? I'm a decent mechanic with the right tools and books, but the most I've done to this boat so far is pull the lower unit off and replace the raw water pump--good times.
Question 3: I don't see where the engine compartment blower motor should go, or where the ducts should be running. Where were they located originally?? I'm just at a complete loss for this one. Everytime I start it after its been sitting for a little while, I open the engine compartment to let it air out so we don't die when I crank it.
So...hopefully that wasn't too many questions my first time out, and I will have some luck with some responses. I'm sure there will be many more questions to come. Thanks for looking.
Boat safely,

ps--I'll try to get some pics posted soon.
