Yesterday the wife and I took the boat out to Eagle Mountain Reservoir, just a few miles north of Fort Worth. The fishing stank (zero fish), the wind was blowing, and it was just kind of a crappy day.

This morning was beautiful, so we decided to go out again. This time the weather was excellent, the water was calm, the wind wasn't blowing, and we caught a few fish!

About the only thing that went wrong was what we saw at the ramp (yeah, here it comes)! We had just launched, and I parked the rig up the road just a bit. As I was walking down to the dock I heard someone hollering, "Help! Help!"

As I rounded the corner of the bait shop, I saw a pickup backed down the ramp into the water, and the driver was standing at the top of the ramp. Water was almost to the tops of the doors, and the guy had his windows rolled down. I could see that the engine was still running because the exhaust was burbling up near the rear bumper, so I told the guy about it. He went into the water and crawled into the cab through an open window, and I though he might just have a chance at salvaging the situation, but when he got in the truck submerged just a couple more inches and the engine died.

We had a camera with us, but I just didn't have it in me to stand there and immortalize the poor guy's humiliation. I heard him say he thought he must have left the rig in reverse. I can't imagine how he could do that, but before I launched my boat without the plug in one time, I couldn't see how that would happen either.

Anyway, we had a nice time out on the water and caught a few fish and had a great day. The sand bass are starting to get a little more active, I think...we're ready for a great season!
