how goes it? i was going to order a dc switch pannle off of iboats here and was wondering if anyone has used one of the push button reset 6 Circuit Breaker Panel by SeaDog, or somethiing like it i was wondering if you liked it or just a regular fuse pannel would be the wat to go. this box has 2-3 amp breakers 2-6amps and 1 -8 amp and 1- 10 amp breaker. i want to wire my depth finder, my gobee spotlight/ nav lights, and my radio and a 20 ft rope light up to it. if you think or know that this would be a good box to get could you help me out with what i should wire up to what breaker size. I would think i could put my depth finder on a 3 amp breaker and probley the lights on a bigger breaker? please hel0p me out if i am on the right page here thanks guys.

Re: A Breaker switch pannle box questions.

You can use the 'push-to-reset' panel if you like. If you were to short out a circuit, it's an immediate give away to what the problem was and an easy reset. For most of the stuff you mentioned, it would be just as easy to use the standard in-line fuse holder or go with a mounted power buss bar. Check the backs of the units (radio, GPS, spotlight, etc) for the size amp fuse that they need.

In-line fuses are very "old school" and a pain in the back side. A panel with fuses or the breaker panel you describe is the way to go. No advantage either way except it is easy to push a button to reset the circuit rather than replacing a fuse. What circuit you connect to which breaker or fuse value depends on the amount of current that circuit must carry. Only you can figure that out. Check the specs for each of your accessories.

ND,

I have two of these same exact breaker panels in my resto boat. They work well. One thing to keep in mind is that these panels are NOT weather resistant. I had to purchase rubber boots to cover all of the switches and breaker buttons.

My panel should be here in a few days and was wondering where you got your rubber boots from and how you attached them to the panel, figured i should just fix the problem before one starts. I kinda figured that if would be wether resistent being a panel made for a boat but i guess i didnt pay that much attention to that thanks for the heads up greg. Also since you have the same one thats all it is is a flat panel correct? it dose not have sides on it or a back plate right?

ND,

That is correct. It is a flat panel w/no sides or back. Here are few pics of mine:

I added the negative bus bars along each side.

For my application I covered the backs.

The rubber boots for the breakers just screw on over top. The boots for the switches slip on over the existing switch.

Splash guard breaker boot - P/N 420839-1 (pair)
Splash gurad rubber boot - P/N 420449-1 (each)

Do a web search to find suppliers. I had some difficulty finding them.
