RE: Feelin' Old. Must give us pause. The concept of equality has taken a decided step forward. I am wondering how this will be figure into the "greater good". Technology has created an environment whereby it is becoming the determining parameter. Innocent words, or double entendre, have been relogated to the position of being offensive or vulgar and yet the entertainment fare bulges with sexual content that is explicit beyond artistic value. It is amazing that the use of the term *****cat is bannnd yet cockpit is displayed prominently. I don't know what came first the **** or the pit but I do know that a cat has a *****. Also, I know that the machine maintinence shops in the City of Los Angeles will not allow the use of the term jig. It must now be referred to as a fixture. Now there is a funny evolution. I will not comment explicitly to the obvious. I will just maintain my faith that everything happens for the good. As we all know the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Language, including what is and is not socially acceptable (currently called PC) changes with political history.<br /><br />My Anglo Saxon ancestors used a collection of mostly 4 letter words freely in polite conversation until the Normans gained political power and designated them as offensive, profane and not allowed in polite society. Thus the phrase, "Anglo Saxon profanity."<br /><br />Minorities and women, with their recently found political power, are designating previously harmless terms and slang as offensive, vulgar and not allowed in polite society.<br /><br />Whether the term or slang was ever meant as derogatory to anyone is irrelevant. It is the assertion of political power to "ban" it.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it has to be a duck, as to why it cannot be called a duck is ludicrously impratical and bizarre to say the least
