Don't know whether you all remember Deputy Dawg posting a few weeks back about getting clear of the support program that had helped him in his hour of need? Well it's my turn now.
I didn't say anything about this on the board because it was a real downer and I'm usually a "happy-chappy" but life here has had it's shares of downs recently.
Early last year my employer at the time pulled a nasty little stunt which resulted in me losing my job and my career; it's still going through due legal process so I can't say much more than that at this time.
Anyway by the middle of last year I had to admit defeat and resign and take up social security benefits. I waited several months before I could bring myself to fill in the piles of paperwork but things were getting desperate and the banks were knocking on the door. Contacts in the working environment very quickly disappeared (mud sticks if thrown hard and clever enough!).

Anyway, fast forward to yesterday and I get a letter welcoming me to my new career! I'm off benefits and raring to go!

It's been a rough old year and I won't go into all the details but I will say that the humour and comradeship that I've found on the dockside has definitely been a major factor in helping me through. A lot of time it's been realising that there are plenty of other people out there who go through the same or a lot worse that has made the difference.

Thanks to all the iboats members, the good, the bad and the ugly for keeping my chins up

I start my new job in April and I won't get the chance to post as much for the first two months but I'll still be around (or round!) so don't throw the leaving party just yet
