I buy a 225 EFI 2003 same as Optimax. I see the gearcase have holes in the nosecone area. Can I rise the engine with a Jackplate without a Nosecone?

Yes.. but you need the smartcraft guage or a water pressure guage to see if you loose pressure at full trim or turning. I just set up a a Ranger 520VX with a 225 Opti on 8" jackplate and front water intakes are 1-1/4" above bottom of the pad. Ran a Temptest 26 pitch at 5700rpm @ 70.6mph GPS. Was running a 25 Trophy at 5500rpm @ 66.3 mph GPS.

Thanks for the info. I run in a Donzi 16 with single cable steering, start to chinewalk pass the 60 MPH with a Tempest Plus 27. I buy a new Sea star pro steering syst should be installed next month. Also buy a Hyd Jackplate. I am just wondering iff the holes in the gearcase can be modify and not install the nosecone. Dont know iff anyone try this before. This holes go directly to the impeller housing but dont know the size of the tube inside the gearcase.
