I just rigged this motor and it runs fine but I notice that when I push the key in on the 703 controler I don't get the click sound of the choke closing on the carbs? I'm used to Merc's and I'm not sure if this engine even has a choke? Is there something that I missed while rigging the engine to the controler? I switched the engine over from a tiller so I looked on the old tiller handle and I don't see where it ever had any type of choke. Thanks in advance for any info!

Re: 99 Yamaha 90 jet. *no Choke*

Your motor has a totally automatic enrichening system on the middle carb called prime start. Pushing in the key does nothing, that's just there from a manually operated choke system. Prime start makes no clicking, or solenoid type sounds. Leave your neutral throttle lever in the down/closed position, pump the primer bulb until hard, and just turn the key. The prime start has a small pump/diaphragm and a needle that opens and closes automatically.
