Anyone have any suggestions...
I was running the boat and all of a sudden lost power on my Optimax. I started her back up and she began to move real slow and then stalled again. Upon diagnosis I noticed the alternator bolt broke which caused the alternator to come loose and my drive belt to snap.
I put on a new drive belt and resecured the alternator but the engine just won't start. Everything turns flywheel, compressor, alternnator but no dice. Anyone else ever have this problem....
Would running the motor without the drive belt cause any damage?
Also I noticed theres a sensor below the flywheel..(magnetic Sensor) Can't find it on the parts list. All I see is MAP Sensor didn't that was a MAP sensor,,,Everything is turning but just won't kick over.
I havn't had time to check anything gonna look at it tomorow..Hate to pull her out of the water, hoping I get her running.
What really bothers me is I usually do all the service on my outboard myself. However two months ago I had a Mercury dealer do a make ready for me, new water pump, plugs, gear oil, diangostic hook up, $800.00 bucks later I would think my motor would be in tip top shape.. ..yeah right!
I appreciate any tips...
