I just purchased a well taken care of '99 Nitro 640 lx bass boat with a 2005 Johnson 90hp 2 stroke. I am a new boat owner and was thinking about taking it out this Thursday and running it on some local water. Is there anything that anyone can tell me about the bass boat I just purchased. Problems, concerns or positives about both the boat and the motor would be helpful. The guy I purchased it from had owned it for 4 years and was the second owner. He also knew the first owner and that is why he chose to buy it. From the look of their garage (where it was kept with his fathers 21 ft. Triton bass boat) I would say that these guys were maticulous in the up keep of the boat. Dispite some scratches on the hull from shallow water and a couple of rocks the boat is in really good shape. I am just wondering what I need to do or if there was anyone out there who may have the same boat. Just need some feedback. Also, I am going to have to store it in a garage (attached to the house) that is not heated...will I need to have it get it winterized? Or can I do it myself? It will not fit in my garage and I was thinking about putting a swing away tongue adapter kit on it and if anyone has any news good or bad about the adapter that would be great to know or learn about as well.

Re: '99 Nitro

I just got a well taken care of 170 tf nitro with 115,had it on water two times..it runs and handles great.only problem with mine is tach dont work but im going to fix that.when i get tach fix i will put a 4 blade ss prop on it for better hole shot. There really is nothing to winterize on an outboard boat.just check lube in lower unit and make sure it dont have any water in it,and water is drained out of livewells..

Depending on where you are at, you may also want to fog the motor as well as change the LU oil and add some fuel stabilizer.
