99 Merc 90hp

A friend of mine got oil in his oil 2 years ago and someone told him a fix with his thermostat. He did that and ran it hard for 2 years (no water) and now it's back. I talked with my marine mechanic friend of mine and he said these early carbureted 4 strokes are junk. No parts from Merc but maybe Yamaha. (Made by Yamaha)

Can anyone confirm? And does anyone know the procedure of the thermo fix?

Please advise.

Must have been tired. To late to correct so I will do it here.

Water in the oil, not oil in oil.

Somehow water gets in the oil from the thermostat area.

Anyone know the fix?

I take it no one has heard of this condition.

This is a known problem with these motors so I was hoping someone had gone through the procedures.
