I bought a brand-new '99 Johnson 90-hp outboard two months ago. Recently the alarm buzzer came on and will not go off. It starts instantly when I turn the key in the ignition, even before trying to make the engine turn over. The warranty is no good because of the OMC bankruptcy. Anybody have any suggestions?

Disconnect the heat sensors on each head one at a time. One of them (or related wire) might be bad. Or the buzzer may be bad.

Hi Richard Hogan, One item may be the warining horn, is it a buzzing sound or high pitch whistle, If it buzzes, change it to the whistle. That should correct the problem. If it whistles, Turn the key switch on, so it sounds. Disconnect any brown wires, one at a time, waiting a second before disconnecting another one. As Dhadley mentioned there are heat sensors on the heads, There is also a wire on the VRO Fuel pump and the VRO Oil tank. Make sure the oil tank has at least 3 inches of oil in it. If you disconnect a wire and the sounding stops, it's most likely that sender.
