I recently purchased a 83 aries 15ft bass boat. The motor is a 99 50hp johnson with a 11 3/4x17 prop.My rpms at wot are 5200 with the motor trimmed up.My question is could i run a 12 1/4x 15 prop to improve holeshot and plane out and still be in manufacturers recommended wot rpms? The boat does fine with just me in it.The problem is when my sons or wife goes with me the boat takes a little longer to get on plane. Thanks for an advice.

A 15" is closer to what is typical for your setup.Same brand same model should put you at about 5500 to 5600 and help your hole shot.Your antivent plate, just above the prop should be visable on plane. In the extreme raising the motor could net about 2to 3 mph.and better handling.

Thanks for the reply.I am not really sure of the brand. It is a standard aluminum prop, guessing its factory.

There may be a part number under the prop nut that would tell us the brand.
Staying with same brand just helps to have more predictable results.
Most 15" al props in a reasonable diameter should give good results.
Generally as pitch goes down diameter goes up, as noted with your 15" numbers.
