I have a 1999 Malibu Response with an Indmar 350 EFI. I am by no means a mechanic but I understand the basics and I am trying to get some guideance on where to start. I am having someone else do the work and am trying to point him in the right direction. Engine oil becomes milky after very little run time. At this point multiple things have been done to the engine.

1. We have pressure tested the block. No signs of a leak.

2. Replaced Intake Manifold.

3. Replaced head gaskets and head bolts last year. But since that time the boat overheated due to an impeller failure. Should we look in that direction again?

What steps and in what order would you suggest us to troubleshoot. Your help and guideance is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

Run engine for a few minutes then shut it down. Let it sit for maybe an hour. Remove the spark plugs then spin the engine over. See if water comes out the holes. This will tell you if the water is coming back thru the cylinders or not.

More background can help... Did this just start happening? If so what was the last thing done to the engine and when? What was the last outing like? Or did you just get the boat and it had this problem? Some history always helps.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge. If water does come out the holes what would that point to as a problem?

I am getting Oil all over the bottom of the engine compartment? I am actually losing oil. Would the oil at the bottom point to anything in particular?

Bought the boat 2 years ago. It was a completely rebuilt engine. When I first got it water was getting in the oil. At that point I replaced the head gaskets and head bolts. That seemed to have fixed the problem. At least it did when I checked it constantly for the next to weeks after running it multiple times. After I took the boat out of storage I used it once and went to change the oil. It was full of water and completely milky. The only thing that happened was it overheated after an impeller failure. I am not sure whether this caused the water problem or if it is coming from somewhere else. Just recently replaced the intake manifold as it didn't look like it was sealing properly.

Ayuh,.... That would indicate manifold/ riser failure....

As far as I can tell I don't see any oil residue on the top of then engine. It has to be coming out on the bottome side. I cant see under very well. I think I will have to pull it out and inspect it.
