Replacing the gimbal bearing. The drive is off but old bearing still in. I checked alignment and it is slightly off. Alignment bar goes all the way in, but slightly stiff with more grease on bottom than top of bar. Planning on raising engine.

Would you align it before pulling the old bearing and then check it after replacement and adjust again, or just wait and do it after installing the new.

Thanks again.

I'd do it after replacing the bearing. No need to do it twice is there?

I would think the last thing you would want to do is raise the engine. replace the bearing 1st then re-check alignment? It's always cause and effect, motor didn't cause it, effect out of alignment, reason? (bearing)
