Hey guys. New guy here! '99 125 runs great half the day and falls on it's face later in the day. Upon take-off, great, Sometimes after planing it will go to about 2800-3000 rpm's at full throttle. I pull throttle back and go back to wot. Progressively gets worse until it will finally barely idle. I hear heat causing stator, box plugs, trigger to fail. I am new to this engine so any of your input will be helpfull as I want to test it all myself to save money for lures. thanks

Try running it on a portable tank too, to eliminate the boats fuel system. Also have someone pump the ball during the problem to see if it helps.

-W

My friend did pump the bulb and it tried to die while he was doing so. and does the exterior tank need to be a sealed one like the factory one?

I don't understand "sealed". Built in tanks must have a breather vent - gas out = air in. Try some "freeze mist" component cooler from Radio Shack on the switchboxes when they start to fail. Spray them good. If power picks up it's the boxes. If not spray the stator if you can get at it.

Sorry, the 'sealed' question was stupid. I wasn't thinking. I will try the freeze mist. How much should this take. Should I buy more than one can?

No you can used "canned air" from office supply stores - just hold upside down for the cold liquid. a few 5 second bursts should do it.

Do I spray the boxes where the plug wires come out? I don't want to spray the wrong things.
