98 Yamaha waverunner xl won't start??

I tried to start my yamaha today after covering her for the winter but she would not start. Starts to crank but only does a second then kicks out. Put full load on battery so not a battery prob. The battery wires and the battery actually got hot as I hit the starter repeatedly and only got a one second kick then stop.

Could be the pump is frozen or the motor is locked? I pulled plugs and kicked it but got the same "try to start" then nada. No grind just start to turn over then lock.

I thouht I would turn the impeller to see if pump frozen as a next step...what am I missing? Even hit it with a little ether to see if the gas was bad. All suggestions accepted gratefully.

pull the plugs and try to turn over the motor by hand. it might be that your starter is almost dead. could be a poor ground connection so check that.
