I re-powered this boat this past year and finally have it back together and running, however now I seem to think that I am in the early stages of mechanical fuel pump failure. I have the engine running fairly well have I performed a complete carb overhaul on the Holley 2300 however I now have a loss of power when I am half out of the hole trying to get on plane. If I accelerate slowly, the engine seems like it wants to bog out and die and then when I goose the throttle I guess the accelerator pump takes over at shoots the boat right out of the water. The boat is a 98 and it is the original mechanical fuel pump. Does anyone know how to test it for failure without a fuel pressure tool? Also does this sound like I am looking in the right direction?

sounds like you have a plugged idle passage

I thought I had thoroughly cleaned the carb however I don't specifically remember checking that. I am assuming that it could be either one? That has both port and starboard idle mixture screws so I assuming that there are two idle passages.
