My son's Ocean Runner alarmed while we were running this past weekend. The alarm light showed "Check Engine." We pulled the cover and heads were warm to the touch, not frying hot. The engine was shooting a strong stream of water, again not hot. One thing I noticed was the starter was the hottest thing under the cowling.

The engin mount fuel filter was changed last fall. It doesn't have a Racor separator/filter but I plan to install one asap.

Local repair shops are backed up 2-3 weeks and the fishing is good right now. Can anybody tell me how to get started?

Thanks,

If you can read the trouble codes using the ignition switch, throttle position sensor, and warning light flashes, we can propbably help you figure it out. It may be nothing more than a faulty air inlet temperature sensor which can be ignored, or something far worse.

Hopefully you can find the diagnostic procedure somewhere in the archives. It is very simple.
