98 mercury 9.9

i want to buy this 98 mercury 9.9 2 cycle motor great shape but its not electric start was wanting to know if you can or do they sell a electric start kit to convert this from a pull start to electric start has anyone done this please help me out guy's no genuise on boats thanks chris

I'm sure it can be done. Did that conversion to a 1992 9.9 Evinrude a couple years ago for my dad.

You will need;
1) Starter motor & mounting bracket
2) Flywheel with toothed edge (some models came equipped)
3) Starter switch or button
4) Battery and cables (I installed an inline fuse just in-case)

I found that "on-line" buy & sell site the best source for used parts. Dealers wanted about $900 for everything that is needed. Think it cost me about $200 and a weekends work.

There are some great sites showing illustrated parts breakdown and part numbers for everything you will need.

Try mercruiserparts dot com, ishopmarine dot com or any of the others out there.
