Started running rough, cut off a few times, then wouldn't restart. It's my sons boat, I'm coming in on tail end. Found a few bad parts but kept smelling gas, I had disconnected the hose because it seems like the tank building up pressure would push some gas into carbs just sitting there. After still smelling gas, I opened oil reservoir cap and it was pretty much filled with fuel and very little oil in it. I've seen people talk about a check valve but from what I can find, there's no in line check valve on this engine, just a valve on top of reservoir. Any help would be appreciated.

there is a 1-way brass valve between the oil pump and the main fuel line that gets fuel to the carburetors if that valve is bad gas can get from the line into the pump and into the oil tank another way gas can get into your oil tank is when your tank builds pressure if is not vented and gas can push up the line into the carburetors and oil line but it should not pass through if that 1-way oil valve is working correctly

Thanks, i had posted this a few weeks ago and I finally found it. I missed it in the parts diagram and the brass was so old it was black and looked like the tubing. I appreciate the reply
