98 Kawasaki 900stx issue

I recently purchased a 1998 Kawasaki 900 stx. It runs pretty good. The issue is that I can't turn it off. The kill switch isn't working.

I ordered a replacement switch and got the same results with it. So, I'm assuming the problem isn't in the switch. The lanyard has to be attached for the ski to run but it does not shut down by pulling the lanyard or pushing the kill button. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the electrical box open and have been trying to follow the wires back, but i don't see any obvious issues.
