Was out on my buddy's boat orthe first time. As we gradually climbed up on plane and ran a few secondsthe motor would start to buck and miss and then temp light and alarm would come on.
Let it idle a couple minutes and then it ran fine. Started proccess all over 4 or 5 times with same results.
We made a choice to not baby it up on plane and gunned it until she was fully up and then backed off throttle until desired speed was achieved. We did this all day long with no more trouble.
Someone we know suggested that the poppit valve could have been sticking or maybe even the thermostat.
I'm only familiar with older motors and have never had this type of condition happen to me before.
Does this motor have this poppit valve? If so what does it loook like and where is it located. For that matter, do all outboards have this popit valve?
