Hi, I have a 98 honda 4 stroke 50 hp engine. While cleaning it today I noticed 2 semi-clear tubes exciting the lower, right corner of the engine. One of the tubes appears to have debris in it? I believe these are from the carb.? Do i need to have it serviced or can I easily clean these myself? Thanks in advance!<br />Ranger3676

I believe those tubes are for fuel dump from the fuel pump. if the pump goes bad instead of dumping fuel all over the engine it neatly dumps it through the tubes into the carbs.

Those tubes are only drain tubes. One goes to the float bowl of the bottom carb so that you can capture easily any fuel you drain out of it when you open the bowl drain screw. The other drains the airbox in case of a major flood over to keep fuel from puddleing up and being a fire risk.Insects love to crawl up these hoses and build a home.Remove them ,blow them out and put em back in.

Honda manuals are available at your dealer and the maintaince[why do I have such a hard time spelliing that word?]section of that manual is very helpfull. The rest of the manual you will find segmented and difficult to use.I have not used any others so can't offer you any comparisons.

I had a Seloc manual for a 1995 Honda 25 HP, it covered anything that I would care to tackle. But I would go for the Honda shop manual if I was a serious mechanic.
