98 fitch need help

Okay so a few weeks ago coming back from a trip out on the lake I throttled back and the engine stumbled and died. It will crank but will start. So I did trouble shooting and found that the ecu was bad. Sent it off to dfi technologies and they stated that is beyond repair. So I got another one and installed. Fuel pump kicks on now but it still cranks but does not start. If you advance the throttle the check engine light comes on but there are no codes. I have the software but it is asking me for a dealer id and other stuff. Does anyone have any ideas if why it wont start. And how can I bypass the logon info on the software.

Check spark as this motor also uses a ignition module that are know for failing....

as far as software ,just put any number for dealer number.the software does not care what number. I put 22222. the rest is just your info (name ,size of boat ect) its all for the record page on software. like I said just put any number in dealer number. when you get it up and working see what codes it has . make sure you try to start the engine with software hooked up. if something is out of range when cranking, the software should pick it up. also are the plugs wet after cranking the engine? and what size engine is it 115 150 200?

150ilecr. I have hooked up the software. But now engine wont crank. Jumped the solenoid and it cranked. So now I am going to get another solenoid. Then since its an older model. 1998. The new software is telling me there is a bootsrap installed and will not allow me to connect. I have not been able to check spark since it was cranking once I get it cranked I will check spark.

maybe you already know this but the key must be in the on position to connect to software. it told me something like it is telling you ,and I turned the key on and it connected. hope this helps.

yes i had the key on. but i do have a serial port r232 connector i am going to try today and see if that helps.

I did get it figured out. I sent the ecu to dfi and they stated that there was an issue with the ecu. THey stated that it was not firing the injectors properly and there was flucation with rpm on there machine. So I ordered another ecu and am expecting it anyday. hopefully this one will work.
