Hey all, This is my first post here (just found the board to be a wealth of info).
I bought a boat (25'6" Dusky) with a 250 Evinrude on a bracket a few months back. The engine needs a tune up, so it is not provifing full power.
Anyway, I was looking for some more info on this motor, and reading the original specs printed on it, something dosent appear to be right.

The Model number is E250PXECD
SERIAL G04500###.
Manufactured 08/98.
Power 167 KW
Displacement 182.9in ^3

So, trying to get it back up to spec, I converted the Printed 167 KW to HP and it equals 223.95 .
So I called Evinrude this morning and was told the discrepancy allowed was +/- 10 %, min of 225, to a max of 275..
Now I don't know if it's just me, but the correct KW for 250 HP is around 187KW.
I went to look at some other Evinrude outboards at Dusky's showroom today.. power for a 225 = 167.9 KW, for all of the 225's.
SO, what I need to know - is my motor a 225 HP in disguise? are any other owners affected by this? (again for a 1998 model, 2-stroke carb'd, NOT FICHT).
And can anyone help me with the problem (or know a good mechanic)? What is happening is the engine is running a bit rough when idling... and making constant vibrations and sounds like it's sputtering or missing missing every 5 seconds or so.
I've owned another boat with a 30 HP Mariner when i was in the Bahamas, but never had experience with this class/hp motor, so any info I can get will be appreciated.
